E A GATES 1875 - 1950
E. A. Gates was my great grandfather. He was also the father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather, and great great great grandfather to many who carry the Gates name to this day. We are all proud of his art, and hope you will enjoy it too.
The fact that he produced so many paintings means that a large number may still hang in many homes. Some of his original personal work in oils and water colors are in circulation, and many are still held by family members.
In the late 1940's an 8mm film was made to show E A Gates at his craft. It proves that he could do a whole painting in 8 minutes! It was saved and handed down by his son, transferred to VHS by his grand daughter, transferred to CD and formatted for the internet by his great great grand son.

She wrote "Hello Gordon, Sorry it took so long for me to send these pictures of the painting I have by E.A. gates. It is hanging on my wall in my dining room. I enjoy it every day. Nancy"
